Personalities and Anger

Generally speaking there are three different personality types:

Passive Aggressive Assertive

Passive People

Have trouble saying 'No'.

Don't stand up for themselves.

Do what others ask them to even if they don't really want to.

Get 'walked over'.

Are taken advantage of by others.

 Become resentful and angry.

Aggressive People

Always want to win.

Don't care about other people's feelings.

Are loud, bossy and difficult to say 'no' to.

React first and think later.

Get their own way regardless of anyone else.

Become violent easily.

Assertive People

Speak slowly but firmly.

Are direct and say what they want.

Respect other people's feelings, rights and property.

Know and love themselves.

Accept responsibility and don't blame other people.

Are able to channel their anger and make it work for them.

People may fit neatly into one category, but more often their personalities are combinations of parts of all three.

Look at the characteristics of each personality type. Which ones best describe your personality?

Try to be less passive and aggressive and more assertive. You will find that you become angry less often and will be better able to cope when you do.
