Not feeling valued

WHAT CAN WE DO?
It is human nature that all of us have a basic desire to be liked. As teachers we are in a position of power over our pupils. Pupils that are continually shouted at or not regularly praised will not feel valued and will not want to perform well for the teacher.
SO
Value your class
Greet them when they come into the class, treat them as individuals and give praise regularly. By doing this they will realise that you are on their side and will want to do their best for you.
Additional Needs Net recognises that the advice offered on this page will not stop all instances of challenging behaviour, but may improve the behaviour of some students.
